Running paid and outbound as one coordinated motion

When paid and outbound share a signal layer, accounts get a coherent experience and reps get better context. When they don't, you're spending twice to confuse the same person.

Paid and outbound are usually run by different people on different toolsets with different goals. Paid generates impressions and click-through metrics. Outbound books meetings. Neither team knows what the other is doing to the same account in the same week. The account gets an ad on Monday, a cold email on Wednesday, and another ad on Friday with no visible connection between them.

How do you run paid and outbound as one coordinated motion?

Connect the two motions with a shared suppression and escalation layer at the contact level. Suppression stops the channels working against each other; escalation turns ad engagement into rep context. A shared layer gets you there sooner than organisational alignment, which takes months.

When should you suppress contacts from paid audiences?

As soon as a contact replies to an outbound email, positive or negative, pull them from the active ad audience. Contacts in a sales sequence don’t need a cold awareness ad alongside it. The faster your suppression syncs, the fewer contacts receive contradictory signals from the same company.

Influ2 handles this through audience suppression lists that sync with HubSpot sequences. LinkedIn does it manually and with a lag.

When is an account warm enough for a rep to reach out?

Six ad exposures in the past three weeks plus a hit in your HubSpot session tracking marks an account as warm. A rep reaching out at that point has context: the ad activity gives them a reason for the outreach, and the contact recognises the name from the ads.

“We’ve been running a programme specifically for teams dealing with X, and I noticed you’ve been reading our content on Y” is a materially different opening than a cold sequence. That recognition is worth more than most of the personalisation tactics outbound teams spend time on.

How do you build the escalation workflow in n8n?

Build it in n8n with two conditions: HubSpot contact engagement score crosses a threshold, and the account has had at least three ad touches from Influ2 in the last 14 days. That triggers a rep alert with the account name, contact, ad engagement summary, and a suggested opening line, arriving in Slack within minutes of the threshold being crossed.

No manual list reviews, no end-of-week reports. The goal is for the account to feel like they’re being pursued by a company that knows what it’s doing.
